Adonis – male domestic short hair kitten

IMG_4752 Don

Rescue kitten for adoption in Capalaba, Brisbane:  Adonis or Doni, as he is affectionately known, came into care as a small and cheeky kitten on Valentine’s day 2013, hence the suitable name. He is certainly very much like his name; a charming, handsome little ladies man, full of personality, playful, affectionate with a confident and outgoing disposition. However, his shortened name Doni (Donny) also suits him to a tee, as he has way about him that conjures images of a precocious, lanky, agile little Celtic or Cockney character (like Oliver Twist’s ‘Artful Dodger’). Small, fast and street smart, ducking, diving and weaving his way in and out of mischief and into your heart, because Doni is truly the most loving and lovable boy.

Doni loves a game; chasing, leaping and practising his hunting skills (especially with dry leaves!). He doesn’t mind a bit of rough and tumble sometimes (being the lad he is). He is slender, athletic, full of energy and always on the go. He also loves to be where ever you are, follow you from room to room or snuggle up with you on the couch. He loves a peaceful nap too, after he expends all that energy. Once he has bonded with you, which won’t take long, he will be so devoted and fond of being with you, purring his heart out with love. He is a sociable guy, so would do better in a house where there is someone frequently at home, and not a single or professional couple who work long hours and are absent often. A family with small or older children would work well. If a professional single or couple did adopt him, another cat or ‘cats’ would benefit him. He likes company and being where the action is. He is very bonded with his fellow foster buddy Valentine (named after the same day). They are always playing and he takes care of him almost like a baby brother. Because of his confident, outgoing nature, Doni would most likely be ok with small or gentle larger dog. He is adaptable with a winning personality. But obviously caring guidance and patience would be helpful.

Adonis currently shares his diggings with younger foster mate Valentine (Val), as well as two older female felines who are tolerant, though not always enthusiastic to have him in their space. He takes it all in his stride though, and bounces back from just about anything like a trooper. He is used to being indoors and presently lives in a two story townhouse with lots of nooks and crannies to explore, which he loves along with the stairs. He also likes the little garden and enjoys a custom built cat enclosure which allows him full access to a small sheltered backyard. He loves to climb, run and play. His favourite food varieties are chicken or turkey and he enjoys both wet and dry food. He also has a very strong fondness for yoghurt, especially vanilla, and it’s an effort to discourage him from helping himself if you have a tub or bowl. He has a curious, bold nature at times and can be a little relentless in going after what he wants. A firm but kind way of training will do the trick.

Doni will thrive in a family or household that will give him as much love, devotion and affection as he gives. He is a real looker, pale ginger in colour, almost champagne or strawberry blond, with a fine handsome face, pointy, noble little chin and gentle, dreamy but intelligent, almond eyes that seem to change from a blue-grey to greenish colour.

This gorgeous, charismatic little man will make a truly special. remarkable companion, and addition to any family that will cherish him as the little love god he is.

Adonis’s date of birth is 26/12/2012. IMG_4718_1
