Rescue cat for adoption at Mt Gravatt, Brisbane: Hi, my name is Jasper and I'm one of those exotic, entrancing Devon Rexes! Those that know my breed, love my breed!
I am an indoor cat where it is nice and safe for me, and safe for the birds on the other side of the windows. Occasionally my human will take me outside in the yard in my harness. That's when I like to stretch out and roll around on some concrete and just enjoy the fresh air.
When I am playful I like to follow my humans around and box their ankles when they're walking around the house. I like to scratch carpet to sharpen my claws, so I especially love my scratching post! Sometimes when I am super excited, I will gallop like a horse from one end of the house to the other so fast that I am like a black and white blur. I will bounce off doors which sometimes startles my humans. I love to play with my cat toy that my humans wave around for me on a stick.
I like my litter box to be clean. If it's not I may meow to let you know. Please also have biscuits for me at night to nibble on before you go to sleep or I will wake you up to feed me! All part of my charm, I must say.
I prefer to drink water from a running tap, but this isn't always practical. Instead I have a special drinking fountain that keeps my water fresh and clean. This will come with me to my new home. I love to snuggle with my humans in bed at night, especially in winter, but sometimes I will find somewhere else, or go to one of my special beds to curl up in for alone time.
I just love scratches under my chin, on the top of my head and around my ears. When I have had enough I may warn you with a meow or give you a little love bite! Or if you stop too soon I will look up at you until you continue showering me with affection. Like most cats, I don't like my tail to be touched. I will come and sit on your lap if you are sitting on a couch or the bed, but please don't force me, I'll come to you when I'm in the mood. I will even do a few laps before I settle in one spot. I will tolerate being picked up, and will sometimes make a squeaking noise when you do so, but I really don't like to be nursed for long.
I will greet you at the door when you come home because I will have missed your company.
I am really looking for a home who have had Rexes before and know this quirky breed, and with no other distractions, like children or dogs or other cats - if you don't mind!
